Remembering Daphne Monroe Throne

Daphne's friends and family gathered at her home in Vista, Calif. on May 31, 2003 to remember her.   Here are some photos of the day, mostly taken by Wayne Overbeck. (This may take some download time with a 56K modem.  Please be patient.)

Daphne's family assembled a large display of photographs and memorabilia...

Dr. Burl Eads delivered the invocation.

Reine Monroe Cooper spoke of her memories of her sister.

A large crowd gathered outdoors and overflowed into the living room and family room.

Rebecca Throne shared memories of her mother.

Gabriel Throne offered a toast.

Memories of a lifetime...

The "shingle..."

Daphne's colleagues in the Bar Association honored her.

The University of California, Berkeley, never had a more devoted alumna than Daphne...

Daphne took part in Cal activities for a lifetime, as this photo display illustrates.

The Cal Alumni Association honored her for her long and dedicated service.
A Daphne Monroe Throne Scholarship Fund is being established to assist local students who wish to attend the University of California, Berkeley.  To contribute or for additional information, write to Geraldine Valdez at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch, LLP, 530 B Street, Suite 2100, San Diego, CA 92101.

Daphne was also active in a host of other community activities...

Above all, Daphne was devoted to her family.

Among fellow MCHS '60 alumni at the memorial were (from left) Marilee Rice Bankert, Dave Behr, Sharon Archuletta Mansfield, Karen Richards Rambeau and Cathie Camp McMillan.

Inside Daphne's home, Sharon Mansfield, Wayne Overbeck, Karen Rambeau and Cathie McMillan  make the best of a difficult occasion.  Present but not in these photos:  John and Darlene Goodwin.

After 50 years, a longtime friend says farewell...
